EVRAZ implements flotation technology at the processing plant “Raspadskaya”

The process of flotation is separation of small solid particles in the liquid of a certain density. As a result the coal particles float to the surface. There are preparations at the dressing plant “Raspadskaya” for the commissioning of flotation technology, which will allow processing hard-cleaning coal of K, KC grade with a fraction of less than 0.15mm. EVRAZ will direct over 300 million roubles for the implementation of an investment project on the introduction of additional redistribution at the plant.

The coal of K and KC grade of small class was not enriched and partially added to the concentrate at the dressing plant “Raspadskaya” before. Technology of flotation will contribute to the reduction of initial ash content and humidity of these coals and increase the percentage of their adding to the end-product. So, the yield of marketable concentrate of K and KC grade at the dressing plant “Raspadskaya” will increase by 3%.

The project considers construction of an additional production area at the dressing plant “Raspadskaya”. There built constructional steelwork with the area of 900 square meters and carried out installation of equipment at the plant. Flotation section consists of mechanical multi-compartment flotation cell M-flot with the capacity of 16 cubic meters, chambered press-filters, containers for chemical plant and band conveyors. Commissioning of the equipment into commercial operation is planned for Q2, 2017.

“Raspadskaya” dressing plant was launched in 2005. The project capacity of the enterprise makes up 15 million tons of mine coal a year. It processes rough coal within the range of 0-300 mm class at present. The dressing process of large class is carried out in dense-media separation units and cyclone separators, small classes – at spiral separators and by method of selective flocculation. The plant uses progressive enrichment technology with a closed water-slurry circuit.
