Russia increased palladium production by 4.4% in 2016, Rosstat

Russia increased ingot palladium production and alloys on its basis by 4.4% in 2016 year-on-year, Rosstat reports.

Production of platinum and alloys also increased by 3.3% in the reporting period. Mining of gold ore and concentrate production has increased by 2.6%. Ore mining and production of silver concentrates decreased by 13.6%, production of natural rough diamonds has also decreased by 2.9%.

In December 2016, production of platinum and alloys increased by 2.4 times year-on-year, and by 34.2% against November. Production of palladium and palladium based alloys increased by 84.3% in December 2016 against December 2015, and by 12.8% compared to November 2016.

Mining of gold ore and production of concentrates in December 2016 decreased by 4.6% year-on-year, and declined by 16.2% against November. Ore mining and production of silver concentrates has increased by 2.1% in December 2016 year-on-year and by 17.0% against November.

Extraction of natural rough diamonds in December 2016 increased by 27.5% compared to the same month of 2015, and by 10.9% against November 2016.

Rosstat does not give absolute figures of precious metals and stones extraction and production.
